I look amazing.
I’m not being arrogantโI’m speaking from a personal baseline.
As we get older, we change. Attractive is still attractive. The look just matures.
I’ve never hidden my age at any stage of life.
I’m middle-aged now, and that’s okay.
If you’re there or beyond, that’s okay too.
We have to be able to accept where we are, because knowing where you stand is part of what keeps you growing and moving.
I think younger people sometimes take that for granted when they see youthful elders.
And honestly, sometimes we do too.
We feel as young as we look.
If that makes sense. ๐ค๐
Some of my peers are just coming into 40 or are in their early 40s.
(๐ค Hope y’all wasn’t lying to nobody that knows us both. ๐ฏ๐คฃ)
But my next couple birthdays will change my age bracket on forms.
Hell, ten more years and I’m definitely Unc. ๐ฏ๐คฃ
Still, to be 45, I look like I’m in my 30s.
And that’s cool. ๐
The funny part is, sometimes I forget the man who looks like he’s in his 30s is not actually in his 30s.
I get pissed when I don’t move like I did back then because my brain sees the younger face and says:
“Hell yeah, we just got 10 years back. โ ๐”
๐๐๐คฃ
Then reality checks in.
What’s the point, Folkz? Sound like you rambling…
Maybe.
But I’m sure somebody gets what I’m saying.
Taking care of yourself, staying fit, looking good, and feeling well for your age is still for your age.
And that’s not a bad thing.
That’s the part I think we need to stop running from.
At the same time, I think we need to redecide what being old looks like in 2026 and beyond.
I’m not my great-grandma’s old.
My grandmother wasn’t her mother’s old either.
Every generation gets a chance to stretch the definition.
So I’m going to keep taking care of myself, keep moving, keep growing, and keep pushing the boundaries for all us old people out here. ๐ ๐คฃ๐คฃ
