I have always loved to draw. When I was a child, I would get in to all kinds of trouble over drawing. drawing on the neighbor’s screens. Drawing on my mothers walls. Drawing on myself with permeant marker, etc. I remember I was in 4th grade, and my friend could draw his a** off. And I asked him, “How are you so good at drawing?” He said, “Practice, I draw everyday.” And from that day on I really to draw seriously for the next five years or so. However as I got older I would draw less and less.
My children where born with artist eye for detail as well. I can remember the my daughter was in her single digits she would draw all the time. She would come ask me to buy her this are that marker or colored pencil set, for reasons of better art quality on her part. I didn’t mind most of the time, but as she got older the supplies got more expensive. Again I did mind the cost, however it did come with a price tag of a lecture on responsibility though. As she grew she started to draw less and less and got into other actives that suited her more as a preteen.
Now have a son also. He shares me and his sisters love for art. My son has always been drawing. I remember he had to be three or four, he made the scribble picture than most kids his age does, the only difference was it was more picture than scribble. I natured this love of art in my son as I did with my daughter. Now that we are in a new millennium things are different and my son has long left the stages of drawing on paper. Now he prefers to draw in digital platforms on his cell phone.
When I was a teenager I made the switch from drawing pictures, to creating worlds with my voice. The power of word has always ran through me. Though I don’t have the English grades or the vocabulary usage I could. I understand what more complex words mean. I have always been a, “Well why didn’t you just say that.” person. Sometimes you just need to use wording that you know is understood. So when I write its not about how smart I can look to the public, but I want you to feel like you talked to me in person when you read my letters. Understanding is what all us content creators want. To feel like we reached our likeness in the world, your not alone. I hear your voice!
